Elegies

I think that Ovid was writing the Elegie in Grief - Consolation form. In the beginning it tells of how sad both Venus is over Aeneas and how Ovid is over Tibullus's deaths. In the poem it describes how they had totaly different types of deaths but yet they're grief was the same . Then towards the end it starts to tell of how they start to be able to ease they're pain, by saying " If anything remains of us but name and shade, Elysium's vale will be Tibullus's home" (lines 59-60) and then at the very end it says " These shades will be your comrades, if any shades there are: you have joined the blessed, elegant Tibullus"(lines 65-66) explaining how Tibullus has died but later on in life the will re-meet in the Underworld.
